TOSHIBA QOSMIO G30 BIOS UPDATE
AND GPU REPAIR PROGRAM

Based on our investigation, some Toshiba portable computers have GPU’s that may exhibit the issue and one or more of the symptoms specified below could occur.

Toshiba has released a new BIOS version 3.90 which modifies thermal control parameter and helps to minimize the future symptom occurring.

In addition, consistent with our commitment to customer satisfaction, Toshiba is conducting a free GPU Repair Program for customers whose portable computers contain the subject GPUs in the model identified below and have experienced a GPU performance issue.

This issue is limited only to the Toshiba portable computer model that was produced during the period January, 2006, through June, 2007. Except as identified below, no other Toshiba portable computers are affected.

The GPU Repair Program covers only the subject symptom related to the subject GPU failures.
Covered Model
The subject GPUs are contained in Toshiba portable computer model Qosmio G30 (“Covered Model”). Only computers that exhibit the failure are eligible for this GPU Repair Program.
BIOS Update
If you own a Covered Model product, we recommend that you install the BIOS version 3.90. The BIOS version 3.90 optimizes thermal control parameter by modifying the fan rotation speed and helps to minimize the future symptom occurring. Click here to download the BIOS version 3.90.
The GPU Performance Issue
If you experience a failure, you may see one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Multiple images
  • Random characters on the screen
  • Lines on the screen
  • No video with power on
GPU Repair Program
The GPU Repair Program is effective for one year from the expiration date of your original standard limited warranty . If you purchased a Toshiba Extended Warranty for your product, it will not affect the period of the GPU Repair Program. The GPU Repair Program applies only to the GPU issue and does not affect any other terms or conditions of the standard limited warranty, or extended warranty applicable to your product. If you own a Covered Model product, you are automatically eligible for the GPU Repair Program if you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above. Customers who previously experienced the subject failure and paid for repair performed by a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider, please contact the respective Toshiba Authorized Service Provider directly.
Limitations
The symptoms described above MAY NOT be caused by the subject GPU. The GPU Repair Program is limited to performance issues caused exclusively by the subject GPU only and applies only to the GPUs in the Covered Model identified above. Performance issues which are not exclusively caused by the subject GPU and which do not involve the Covered Model are excluded from the GPU Repair Program.
